Dermaplaning is an advanced procedure that exfoliates the skin, removing up to 2 to 3 weeks worth of rough, dead skin cells and vellus hair, aka peach fuzz allowing the underlying layers to be stimulated to produce collagen and elastin. It uses a small sterile blade and with the skin held taut, swiped in a gentle upward motion. The exfoliation removes the dead skin reducing blemishes and marks and encourages the growth of new, healthy skin cells and can have a positive impact on the skin cell lifecycle.

Dermaplaning is a highly effective way to resurface the skin in a gentle manner that does not damage the skin. It also does not involve the application of chemicals which makes it a great alternative for individuals who have sensitive skin and cannot undergo chemical peels or other chemically based treatments.

What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a procedure that involves manually exfoliating the top layer of the skin, the epidermis, with a custom surgical blade.  This treatment removes dead skin cells, debris, dirt and oil that give the skin that dull look.
What does the treatment involve?
Dermaplaning is a painless procedure and can be compared to the sensation of shaving your legs, but in this case, it’s on your face.

First, we will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Next, pull an area of your skin taut with one hand, and hold a sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45 degree angle in the other hand and use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz.

Who should have Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with acneic skin. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment. This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the blood stream and potentially harming your baby.
How often should I get Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle of 4 weeks before your next treatment.
What results should I expect
Results are visible immediately! Following treatment skin appears more radiant, smoother, texture is improved and skin will feel softer than ever before.
What are the possible side effects?
There are no side effects and zero downtime. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may already look very pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.
What is the aftercare advice?
Clients should avoid excessive heat such as sauna and steam rooms as sweat can irritate the skin. As always you should take care of your skin at home. We recommend excellent skincare products from ZO specifically for after care treatment and on a daily basis.
Will hair removed grow back thicker?
NO, hair will not come back thicker, darker or coarser than it was before having the treatment.
Will Dermaplaning remove wrinkles?
No, this procedure will not get rid of wrinkles or sunspots, but it does remove the top epidermal layer of skin and dead skin cells for a healthy glow!
